Mary K. Bir, 79, of Kalamazoo, died Friday, Dec. 18, 2009, at her home following a short illness.
She was born Feb. 17, 1929, in Detroit, a daughter to Furm and Loretta (Nartker) Bolin.
She has resided in the Kalamazoo area for the past 10 years, coming from Constantine and Sturgis.
On Jan. 24, 1948, she married Henry S. Bir in LaGrange, Ind. He died Dec. 16, 1979.
He was a homemaker and member of Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis. She most enjoyed her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.
Surviving are daughter, Stephanie J. Goodwin of Kalamazoo; five sons, Kenneth R. Bir of Bronson, Richard W. (Susan) Bir of Sturgis; Daniel T. Bir of Constantine, James P. (Kim) Bir of Ada, and David S. (Cynthia) Bir of Plymouth; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Doc) Secaur of Elkhart, Ind.; brother, Michael (Rhonda) Bolin of Austin, Texas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; parents, infant son, Michael; brothers, James Bolin and William (Bill) Bolin Jr.; and sister, Nancy Fuller.
There will be no visitation. Cremation has been conducted. Services are at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Sturgis with the Rev. Richard Altine officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
Arrangements were handled by the Farrand Funeral Home of White Pigeon.
