Robert Leroy O’Brien, age 37, of Colon, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 22, 2009, from injuries received in an automobile accident.
He was born April 9, 1972, in Kendallville, Ind., a son of Charles T. and Marsha (Porter) O’Brien.
Robert had been a resident of the Sturgis area all of his life. He had been employed by the G&B Tree Service in Sturgis and he enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are a daughter, Hailey O’Brien; three brothers, Charles (Cindy) O’Brien of Burr Oak, Daniel O’Brien of Mt. Clemens and Joe (Lisa) O’Brien of Coldwater; his father, Charles T. O’Brien of Kimmel, Ind.; his mother, Marsha Lindsey of Colon; maternal grandfather, Leroy (Doris) Porter; nieces, Brittany Skalski, Karissa Sanchez, Brianna O’Brien, Makenzie O’Brien and Kaelyn O’Brien; great-nieces and a nephew, Dawson and Emma Sanchez, and Quincy Watkins; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Hackman Family Funeral Home Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Road, Sturgis.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Robert O’Brien will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Pastor David Farrell officiating. Cremation will follow the services.
Memorial donations may be directed to the family to help with expenses. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
