Ronald Towner, 77

Ronald Coleman Towner,  age 77, of Three Rivers, passed away Wednesday, December 16th, 2009 at home. He was born on July 17, 1932 in South Bend, IN, a son of Leslie R. Towner of Homer, IL and Myrtle James Harvey of Dowagiac, MI.

Ron was originally from Indianapolis, IN where he worked for Hoosier Bearing as a salesman and for Economation as a conveyer installer for corrugated box plants. He traveled around the country installing conveyers and his love for traveling never ended. He and his loving wife Mary moved to Michigan in 1987. In 1991 they picked up roots and traveled the United States in their 5th wheel until 2001 when they again settled back in Three Rivers. Ron’s favorite place was Alaska which he visited twice and where he longed to go back. He enjoyed gardening and once while visiting Alaska he left an entire garden for the neighbors to enjoy. They had corn for weeks. He also enjoyed woodworking, and watching and feeding the birds.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother James Towner of Santa Rosa, CA.

Surviving Ron are his wife of 21 years, Mary DeBruyn-Towner, 2 daughters, Karen Rosas (Alex) of Grants Pass, OR and Susan Young (Jim) of Phoenix, AZ, grandson Andrew Young, sister Wanda Loncar (Harris) of Plainfield, IN, cousin Beverly Torgeson of Edwardsburg, special friends John Buscoe, Mar & Gene Davis of the Black Hills, S. Dakota, John & Betty Paddock of Clinton, IL Helen Krueger and his beloved dog BeBe (Bandits Brother). Special thanks to his loving caregivers Karen & Maggy, Janette from Three Rivers Hospice and Bryan Stuck from Riverside Church for his final prayers with the family and friends.

Cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date. Interment of ashes will be in Resurrection Cemetery in Argo, IL.
