Dawn Stuut, 50

Dawn M. Stuut 50, Schoolcraft Dawn Marie (Barr) Stuut has gone to be with her Lord after a brave fight with melanoma cancer.

She was born Oct. 6, 1959, in Sturgis, Mich.

Dawn was a nurse for 30 years at Bronson’s NICU and her “babies” were her passion. She was awarded the Daisy Award for outstanding nursing excellence and was loved by her babies’ families who saw in her compassion and love. Her infectious smile lit up any room she entered and she always made the time to listen and talk and spread her love.

She was a friend to all and a friend to many. She loved her family fiercely and was there for every event and to cheer them on.

She was a beloved sister, second to none and a caring daughter. Her husband was her soul mate and life mate. She rarely spent a night away from her beloved Jim.

Visit with her family and friends, view her life story film and share light refreshments on Tuesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Life Story Funeral Home, Portage; 5975 Lovers Lane (344-5600).

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at 12th Street Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband James Stuut; her four children, Danielle (Adrian) Hernandez, Jim (fiancée Chelsea Ruzick) Stuut, Rachel and Tom Stuut; her parents, Jack Barr and Kathryn Climie; her sister, Tina and Scott Andrews and their family from Vermont.
