Marguerite May Rentfrow, 89, of Jones, Long Lake, and formerly Elkhart, Ind., passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2010 at the Sunshine House, Three Rivers. She was born on May 14, 1920 in Fabius Township, the daughter of Laverne and Mable (Withers) Rumsey.
Mrs. Rentfrow has been a lifetime resident of this area. She and her husband, Lyle, ran their family dairy farm for many years. She also was employed at Happy Landing Grocery, and Harding’s Market of Constantine. She was a member of the Corey Church of the Nazarene. Marguerite loved to garden and go out to eat, especially for breakfast. She also loved square dancing and playing cards in her younger years.
Mrs. Rentfrow was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Lyle, in 1954; two brothers, Harold and Homer Rumsey; one sister, Helen Wagner; one daughter-in-law, Linda Rentfrow; two grandchildren.
She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter, Ellen (Jeff) Thrasher of Milton, Fla.; five sons, David (Jo Ann) of Three Rivers, Donald (Sandra) of Kalamazoo, Larry (Anita) of Edwardsburg, Richard “Dick” (Elaine) of Three Rivers and James “Jim” (Joyce) of Three Rivers; one sister, Barbra Whitney of Three Rivers; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 24 at the Hohner Funeral Home, 1004 Arnold St., Three Rivers, MI. 49093.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 25 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Gary Carr officiating.
Interment will be held in East Union Cemetery, Union.
