Dorothy Stiver, 84

Dorothy Marie Stiver, passed away Thursday, March 25, 2010, at the Three Rivers Health Hospice Suite.

She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Lockport Township, a daughter of John William and Josephine Jennie (Hasbrouck) Bolender.

On Feb. 9, 1946, she married Paul Stiver in Centreville. He preceded her in death Dec. 26, 2000.

Dorothy was a lifelong homemaker and operated the family farm with her husband. She also worked at Denton Mills, the Home restaurant and Bolender’s clothing store. She enjoyed embroidery, fishing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens. Dorothy loved to watch movies and her favorite soap operas.

Surviving are a daughter, Judy M. (Jay) Suhonen of Centreville; a son, Mike Stiver of Constantine; grandchildren Kimberly K. (Rick) Clark of Sturgis, Janet M. Suhonen of Centreville, Kathy Suhonen of Franklin, Tenn., Jeremy Stiver of Centreville and Phillip Stiver of Constantine; great-grandchildren Paul Tyler Clark, Hunter Allen Clark, Katelynn Mathes and Leah Stiver; sisters Jean Miller of Sturgis and Nancy Wagner of, Lansing; brothers Paul Bolender of Centreville, Dick Bolender of Florida and Red Bolender of Arizona; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Relatives and friends will be received 2-4 p.m. Sunday at Eley Funeral Homes in Centreville, where religious services will follow at 4 p.m. Three Rivers Hospice Chaplain Karla Kauffman will officiate. Interment services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Prairie River Cemetery in Centreville.
