Dorothy Sarah Spiegelberg, age 86, of Vicksburg, passed away on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at her home surrounded by loving family. She was born on July 17, 1923 in Dexter Township, Michigan the daughter of Emil and Hazel (Campbell) Ruhlig.
Dorothy has been a long time resident of this area, moving from the Ann Arbor and Manchester area in 1972, where she grew up on her family farm. Dorothy held true to her roots and married Mr. Ronald E. Spiegelberg in 1950 where they raised their five children and had several Dairy Farms.
Dorothy was an active member of the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she also belonged to the Lutheran Women’s. She loved to garden and can produce. Her true love was family, and spending time with grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She fought a courageous battle for over seven years with Kidney Failure.
Mrs. Spiegelberg was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, the late Ronald E. Spiegelberg; and one son, Gary (Stacey) Spiegelberg.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, one daughter, Loraine (Vern) Lewis, of Vicksburg, MI.; four sons, Wayne (Deborah), Darold, and Dwight (Leeann) Spiegelberg, all of Vicksburg, MI., and Kevin (Jill) Spiegelberg, of Plainwell, MI.; eleven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Two brothers and three sisters and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 3-5 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. on Monday, April 5, 2010 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 6, 2010 at the St. Peter’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, with Pastor Alan Stadelman officiating.
Interment will be held in deDie-Richardson Cemetery, Brady Twp., MI.
