Lilah J. Heckelman, 63, of Three Rivers, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, April 7, 2010 in West Palm Beach, Fla.
She was born May 2, 1946 in Three Rivers the daughter of Lyle D. and Laura M. (Johnson) Neamen. With a Master’s degree in education, Lilah was an elementary teacher for the Three Rivers Community Schools her entire career. She also taught English at Wuhan University in China for a short period of time. Her hobbies included travel, shopping, ceramics, cooking for family and friends, reading and feeding wild birds. Lilah and her Scottie dog were inseparable.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Gerald; two daughters, Jannele Heckelman of Milwaukee, Wis. and Aimee (David) Slossberg of West Palm Beach, Fla.; her mother, Laura Neamen of Three Rivers; one sister, Linda (LaVern) Blentlinger of Three Rivers; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, April 12, in the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus, with Pastor Randy Evans of New Beginnings Community Church of Sturgis officiating. Interment followed in the Marcellus Cemetery.
