Ray Neagu, 60

John Raymond “Ray” Neagu, age 60 of Three Rivers, died Monday, April 12, 2010 at his home following a 10 year illness. He was born in Gary, IN on June 15, 1949 the son of John and Katherine (Garvey) Neagu, Jr. He graduated from Merrillville High School and later attended Indiana University. Ray served in the U.S. Army before returning to Indiana where he worked for U.S. Steel in Gary. When poor health forced his retirement, he worked briefly for Ameritech and for Hallmark R.V. in Bristol. Ray had an appreciation for antiques and enjoyed photography.

Ray is survived by his mother, Katherine Neagu of Centreville; a sister, Doreen Mudrich (Pete) of DeMotte, IN; 2 uncles, Nick Neagu and George Neagu and wife, Jan; an aunt, Dorothy Konopacki; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his father and by a nephew, Peter John Mudrich.

Cremation has been conducted. A military committal of his ashes will take place later in Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan.
