Kevin Lang, 17

Kevin Timothy Lang, age 17, of Overland Park, Kan., passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, at Overland Park Regional Medical Center.

Kevin was born Jan. 5, 1993. in Shawnee Mission, Kan. He was a junior at Blue Valley Northwest High School. He loved sports and participated in football, basketball, track and lacrosse. He was particularly passionate and talented in football. Kevin hoped to play football in college and become a teacher and coach.

He was a member of St. Tomas Episcopal Church. Kevin was a strong, independent young man with a big heart. He was quiet with a mischievous sense of humor. He was a loyal friend with a sense of adventure. Kevin loved to ride four wheelers, his dirt bike, Sea-Doos, go tubing and sit around the camp fire and eat s’mores. Kevin loved his dog, Ricky, and the time they spent together at the dog park.

Kevin will be deeply missed and was truly loved by his family and friends.

Kevin’s family would like to thank their friends and family, the Blue Valley Northwest community and the St. Thomas Episcopal Church community for their love, support and prayers. They would also like to thank the Emergency Response Team and all the staff and physicians at Overland Park Regional Medical Center who provided exceptional care for him.

Kevin was preceded in death by his grandfather, Donald Lang.

Survivors include his parents, Tim and Debbie Lang; brother, Matt; and dog, Ricky; grandparents, Patricia Lang of Sturgis and Ernest and Doris Miller of Grand Rapids; uncles and aunts, Fred and Kim Lang of Troy, Tom and Deb Lang of Sturgis, Tony and Gina Lang of Sturgis, Dave and Nan Miller of Grand Rapids and Todd and Sue Trainer of Grand Rapids; cousins Kyle and Paul Lang of Troy, Mark and Tarah Lang of Sturgis, Kristin and Ross Trainer, and Danny and Jessica Miller of Grand Rapids.

Visitation will be Friday at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, 12251 Antioch, Overland Park.

A celebration of his life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Ascension Catholic Church, 9510 W. 127th Street, Overland Park. Burial will be private.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Kevin Lang Scholarship Fund at the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation, 1055 Broadway, Suite 130, Kansas City, MO 64105.

Arrangements were by D.W. Newcomer’s Sons Johnson County Chapel, Overland Park.
