Marvin Ray Yoder, age 82, of Mendon, died late Tuesday night at his home, surrounded by his family.
He was born July 28, 1927, in Mount Ayr, Ind., a son of Henry P. and Cora (Miller) Yoder.
On Nov. 25, 1951, he married Betty Ruth Otto in Shipshewana, Ind. They have resided in Mendon since their marriage.
Marvin had been employed by Weyerhaeuser Paper Co. in Three Rivers for over 40 years, and at the same time engaged in general farming, and was a bee-keeper.
He was a member of Locust Grove Mennonite Church. He did volunteer work for the church and for the Salvation Army. Marvin enjoyed socializing with friends and loved spending time with his family.
Marvin is survived by his wife, Betty; five daughters and their spouses, Marcia and Dennis Schrock of Freeman, S.D., Sandra and Raymond Schwartz of Colon, Donna and Rex Miller of Sturgis, Judy and Kevin Wickey of Morgantown, W. Va., and Connie and Sterling Nuff of Sturgis;
11 grandchildren, Jennifer (John) Garner of Newton, Kan., Jeremy (Amanda) Schrock of Freeman, Terri Lance of Colon, Andrew (Angie) Schwartz of Sarasota, Fla., Adam Miller, serving in Baghdad, Kurtis, Keitha, Kayla, and Krista Wickey all of Morgantown, and Jessica and Conrad Nuff, both of Sturgis; five great-grandchildren, Jena Lance, Amber Webber, Asa Garner, Elliot Schrock and Alice Schwartz; and a sister, Edna Mast (Glen) of Wawaka, Ind.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Irene Yoder and Wilma Schwartz.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the Locust Grove Mennonite Church, 29525 Finley Road, Burr Oak.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the church, with Pastor Bill Beck officiating.
Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery.
Memorials are suggested to the Sturgis Home Health Care and Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the church and Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.
