Jean Maichen, 85

To our Mom with all our love, Jean L. Maichen passed away peacefully on Aug. 19, 2010, in Kalamazoo, Mich.

She was born to John and Elizabeth Kosieracki on May 3, 1925, in Chicago.

A loving wife and mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, John F. Maichen, and son Robert Maichen.

Jean’s life dedication was being a homemaker. Her happiest time were when she was surrounded by those who were dear to her heart. She loved nature and not only had a natural green thumb, but she was also the bird’s best friend.

For many years she was a newspaper correspondent for the Sturgis Journal. She was also an aide at the Mottville School and was a retail supervisor for Kmart in Elkhart, Ind.

She will be deeply missed by her family, especially her granddaughter Erica who tenderly helped care for her in her final days.

We will always be grateful to our Mom; the woman who gave us life and loved us so dearly.
