Jesse A. Payne, 17, of Quincy, and formerly of Sturgis, died unexpectedly, Wednesday, Aug. 18, 2010, in Quincy.
Jesse was born Sept. 22, 1992, in Sturgis, to Starr Payne.
He spent most of his life in the Sturgis area, where he had attended the Salvation Army Church, coming to Quincy eight years ago.
Jesse had worked at Poly Green Foam for several months. Most recently he worked as a cook at Papa Murphy’s Pizza in Coldwater.
He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing and was an avid Kasey Kane NASCAR fan.
Jesse had a great love of music, in which he both wrote songs and performed rap. He enjoyed spending time with his family and was always willing to help anyone in need.
He is survived by his mother. Starr Payne (Ron Flint) of Quincy; a brother, Levi Brown of Quincy; a sister, Kasandra (Jimmy Stallard) Payne of Sturgis; his grandparents, Frank and Clara Payne of Sturgis; a niece and nephew, Hailey Ann and Quenten Stallard of Sturgis; his aunts, Wendy Shenefield of Sturgis and Dawn Payne of Centreville; his uncle, Robert (Lynn) Payne of Three Rivers; and many cousins and friends of family.
Jesse was preceded in death by his great grandmother, Capt. Elizabeth Nicolls; a cousin, Mateja Payne; and a great uncle, Albert Payne.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Keith Brown from Riverside Church in Three Rivers officiating.
Interment will follow at California Corners Cemetery in Montgomery.
