Roberta L. Rendfeld, age 80, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away early Sunday morning, Aug. 8, 2010, at her home.
She was born June 1, 1930, in Harrisburg, Ill., a daughter of the late Clarence and Dorrice (Dowell) Mills.
Mrs. Rendfeld had resided in Sturgis since 1957 coming from Chicago, Illinois. On July 8, 1950 she married Robert Rendfeld in Jonesboro, Ark.
She had been employed by the First National Bank in Sturgis, the Sturgis Hospital where she held the position of office manager and Carl Rehm’s also in Sturgis.
Mrs. Rendfeld was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis where she served on the Altar Guild. She also was a member of Pi Beta Phi Sorority and the Sturgis Hospital Guild. She enjoyed playing golf and crossword puzzles.
She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (David) Smith of Grand Haven; two sons, David (Paula) Rendfeld of Goodyear, Ariz., and Mark (Pam) Rendfeld of Cordova, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Jamie Rendfeld, Lee Kinnaman and Julie Rendfeld; four great grandchildren, Jack Rendfeld, Paul Kinnaman, Brad Rendfeld and Rachel Cole; one brother, Richard (Sharon) Mills of Champagne, Ill.; two nephews and three nieces.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-3284. Funeral services celebrating the life of Roberta Rendfeld will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Sturgis. The Revs. Michael Klafehn and Calvin Kolzow will officiate. A graveside committal of the ashes will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
