Duane C. Ulrich, age 85 of Three Rivers, died Tuesday Sep. 21, 2010 at his home. He was born in Marshall, MI on June 14, 1925 the son of Cloyde and Etta Ulrich. He was a 1943 graduate of Mendon High School and later went to linotype school. Duane served in the Army Air Corps during WWII. When he returned to Three Rivers he was employed by Clifton Engineering for several years, first as a machine operator and later as the purchasing agent. He was married to Pauline F. Simone in Las Vegas in 1975; she died in 1999.
Duane was a member of the American Legion, and was a former member of the Elks Club, the Eagles Lodge, and the Masonic Lodges in Three Rivers. He enjoyed hunting, and the occasional trips to the casinos.
Duane is survived by 3 step-children, Sharon Campbell (Bryan) of Mendon, Pat Barrone of Three Rivers, and Ted Barrone of Mendon; 8 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; 3 nephews, Michael Dunlap, Daniel Evert, and Richard Evert; 1 niece, Lois Hathaway. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Pauline; a step-son, Mike Barrone; and 2 sisters, Almeda Dunlap and Frances Evert.
Cremation has been conducted. A private interment of his ashes will take place later in Mendon Cemetery. If desired, memorials may be directed to the Hice-Shutes American Legion Post #170 in Three Rivers. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon.
