Roger Davis, 73

Roger Clinton Davis, age 73, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday evening, Sept. 5, 2010, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

He was born Nov. 27, 1936, in Sturgis, a son of the late Clifford and Helen (Gest) Davis.

Roger resided in Sturgis nearly all of his life, with the exception of the few years he lived in Idaho.

On Dec. 5, 1972, he married Janet Hawks in Elko, Nev.

Roger retired in 1985 from the Harter Corporation in Sturgis following many years of dedicated employment.

He was a longtime member of the Gold Wing Motorcycle Chapter and he and Janet had traveled extensively throughout the Midwest and east coast of the United States on their Gold Wing. Roger enjoyed his many pets, tinkering with engines and working with his hands. He will be remembered by his family for being the very best husband, father and grandfather.

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Janet; two daughters, Kimberly of West Virginia and Jackie of California; four sons, Keith of Alaska, Craig of Sturgis, Elijah of Kalamazoo and Curtis of Malaysia; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Linda Richter of Centreville; two brothers, Wayne Davis of Idaho and Kenneth (Rebecca) Davis of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sons, Kevin and Mike.

In accordance with his wishe,s cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends for a time of remembering and sharing of memories of Roger beginning at noon Sept. 25 at Oak Lawn Park in Sturgis. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

The Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
