Marlan Benthin, 83

Marlan J. Benthin, 83, of Marcellus, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 13, 2010 at his residence following an illness.

He was born June 5, 1927 in Schoolcraft, the son of Wilfred and Mary E. (Pursel) Benthin. On Sept. 15, 1950 in Schoolcraft he married Ilene A. (Inman) Benthin who survives.

He has lived at his present residence for the past 56 years. He graduated from Schoolcraft High School in 1945. He was engaged in farming and was employed as an iron worker with Local No. 340. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

Surviving besides his wife, Ilene, are two sons, Ronald G. Benthin of Marcellus and Donald G. (Deana) Benthin of Schoolcraft; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Two brothers, Max and Dale Benthin, preceded him in death.

Visitation will be at the Mater Funeral Home, Marcellus. Burial of cremains will be in Howardsville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Heartland Hospice.
