Norman Lantz, 83

Norman E. Lantz, 83, of White Pigeon, died Sunday, Oct. 31, 2010, at Fort Wayne Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Ind.

He was born Sept. 24, 1927, in Topeka, Ind., a son of Everett E. and Ella (Frey) Lantz.

He was a 1945 graduate of Lima High School. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1948 on the USS Fred T. Berry, USS Perkins and in Guam.

On July 3, 1954, he married Betty Chrisman in Sturgis. She preceded him in death.

He was employed at Grumman Boat Division of Starcraft Marine and owned Lantz Real Estate Inc. in White Pigeon.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post #138 of White Pigeon and the Elks Lodge in Sturgis.

Surviving are two sons, Larry (Diane) Lantz of Centreville and David (Mitzi) Lantz of Commerce, Ga.; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Jenny) Lantz, Troy (Jamie) Lantz, Danielle Lantz-Johnson, Stacy Lantz, Ahmad (Janet) Zeaiter, Betsy (Chad) Troxell, Michell Lacy and Jon Lacy; 14 great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn, Kayla, Ryan, Logan, Vanessa, Tobin, Lydia, Nathan and Princeton Lantz, Justin and Alex Fourn, Andrew Lacy, and Felica and Victoria Johnson.

He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; a sister, Shirley Timmis; and a grandson, Abe Zeaiter.

There will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Nov. 20 at White Pigeon Township Cemetery in White Pigeon, with the Rev. Wilbur Brandli officiating. Burial will follow in White Pigeon Township Cemetery, with full military rites by American Legion Post #138 of White Pigeon.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the White Pigeon American Legion Post #138. Envelopes are available at Farrand Funeral Home in White Pigeon, which is in charge of the arrangements.
