Walter “Walt” Grant Westgate, age 90, of Three Rivers, passed away on Thursday, Nov. 4, 2010, at his home surrounded by his loving family.
Walt was born Nov. 7, 1919, in Cassopolis, a son of Owen and Mary (Wagner) Westgate.
Walt spent his life in Cass County before moving to Three Rivers. He worked for American Coach Co. in Cassopolis, Mich., for over 20 years. Walt was a licensed Realtor and broker for over 30 years, working for Associated Services, before owning and operating Classic and Westgate Realty. Walt also enjoyed hunting, fishing, and farming his land in his spare time.
On July 3, 1943, Walter married the love of his life, Marion Helene Westgate, who preceded him in death, along with his parents and one brother, Paul Westgate.
He leaves to cherish his loving memory, one daughter Karen (Philip) DuFour, of Three Rivers; one son, Larry (Nancy) Westgate, of Jones; two sisters, Mary Jane Dussel and Shirley Winchester, both of Cassopolis; four grandchildren, Chris (Juli) Westgate, Pam (Jason) Vary, Nick (Marci) Westgate, and Rob DuFour; one step-granddaughter, Erin McElmurry,; four great-grandchildren, Ashli (William) Vogler, Matthew and Annalise Vary, and Logan Westgate; one step-great-granddaughter, Kayla Zelenock; one great-great grandson, Sammy Westgate; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at Hohner Funeral Home in Three Rivers.
Funeral Services will be held 2 p.m. Monday at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Pastor Patrick Neff of the Porter Baptist Church officiating.
Interment will take place in Shavehead Lake Cemetery in Porter Township.
Memorials may be directed to the Three Rivers Health Hospice or the Porter Baptist Church. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
