Dollie M. Reed, age 97 of Leonidas, died Friday Dec. 10, 2010 at her home following a brief illness. She was born in Hanover, MI on Feb. 25, 1913 the daughter of Albert and Rosie Finch. She graduated from Hanover High School and returned to school in mid-life, graduating from the Bronson School of Nursing. Dollie was first a homemaker and family caregiver, and later worked in area nursing homes. She enjoyed flower arranging and was a passionate gardener, and was often seen working outside her Rawson’s Mill Home.
Dollie is survived by 2 sons and their wives, Dennis & Phyllis Reed of Portage and Richard & Maury Reed of Kalamazoo; a daughter in law, Corie Reed of Lake Charles, LA; 20 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Roland A. Reed; 2 sons, David Reed and Jack Reed; 1 brother; and 3 sisters.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Eickhoff Funeral Home at 311 W. Main Street in Mendon. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday Dec. 18, 2010 in the Chapel of the First Presbyterian Church, 321 W. South Street in Kalamazoo with Parish Associate Rev. Kurt J.
