George W. Waltz, 93, of Three Rivers, passed away Tuesday morning, Dec. 7, 2010 at Riverview Manor near Three Rivers after an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 7, 1917 in Flowerfield Township the son of Charles and Maude (Griner) Waltz. On Feb. 19, 1941 in Three Rivers he married Winifred L. Barton who survives.
George worked for Weyerhaeuser Paper Company for many years until his retirement in 1980. After his retirement, Mr. Waltz worked for the St. Joseph County Fair. He was a member of the Grange.
Surviving besides his wife, Winifred, are one daughter, Dolores (Charles) McPeck of Galesburg; one son, Denis (Joyce) Waltz of Three Rivers; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. Two sons, Duane Richard Waltz and David Charles Waltz, and one granddaughter, Cathy McPeck-Fee, preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by one sister, Neva Avery, and two brothers, Guy Waltz and Raymond Waltz.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10 in the Mater Funeral Home with Pastor Dwight Hostetler of Edwards Corners Bible Church officiating. Burial will follow in Moorepark Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 1-2 p.m. in the funeral home. Memorials may be directed to the Southern Care Hospice.
