Peg Bothamley, 95

Audra L. “Peg” Bothamley, age 95, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away early Tuesday morning, Dec. 28, 2010, at her home.

She was born Aug. 26, 1915, in Hillsdale, Mich., a daughter of the late Howard and Wava (Hilton) Gay.

Peg had been a lifelong Sturgis resident. On Aug. 15, 1936, she married Richard G. Bothamley in LaGrange, Ind. He died March 16, 2002.

Peg was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis where she belonged to ladies groups and was also a member of the Four C’s Craft Group. She enjoyed oil painting, crafts and she and Mr. Bothamley loved to travel, especially to Northern Michigan.

She is survived by one daughter, Judy (Benjamin) Adams of Nokomis, Fla.; one son, Dennis (Jeri) Bothamley of Laconia, NH; six grandchildren, Paula Ann Perez of Seattle, Wash., Richard Adams of Sterling, Va., Stacy Hodgins of Houston, Texas, Ben David Adams of Nokomis, Fla., Ryan Bothamley of East Hampton, Conn., and Adam Bothamley of North Hampton, Mass.; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Loyal Gay of Fort Worth, Texas and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one sister, Dorothy Myers.

The family will receive friends from 3-6: p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2011, at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Audra “Peg” Bothamley will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, 2011, at the funeral home. The Rev. Robert Keim of the First United Methodist Church in Sturgis will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.
