Doris Littlejohn, 88

Doris B. Littlejohn, age 88, formerly of Colon, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2010, in Topton, Pa.

Doris was born April 19, 1922, in Persia, Iowa, a daughter to the late Benjamin H. and Ida B. (Davis) Nichols.

Doris graduated from Battle Creek Central High School with the Class of 1941. She moved to Colon in 1943.

Doris married Clayton Tyson and he preceded her in death in 1944. On April 16, 1962 she married Robert L. Littlejohn and he preceded her in death on April 16, 1986.

Doris was a homemaker and had been employed at the former Lamb Knit Co. in Colon and Denton’s in Centreville. She had been an active member of the Colon American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary and the Colon Lioness Club.

She is survived by one daughter, Sharon (Tyson) Potter of Shoemakersville, Pa.; three granddaughters, Chris, Robin and Nikki; 11 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren; and one brother Wallace Nichols of Sturgis and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters Betty Spillane and Jennie Elliott and two brothers Harry Jr. Nichols and Ernest A. Nichols.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, Jan. 7, 2011 from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon. Funeral Services celebrating the life of Doris B. Littlejohn will then take place at 1 p.m. with Mr. David J. Farrell officiating. Burial will follow in Sherwood Cemetery.

If desired, the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Doris to the Colon American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
