Douglas Ray Thompson, 57, of Sturgis, and formerly of Sterling, Ill., died at 7:10 a.m. Sunday at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo after an extended illness.
Doug was born May 30, 1953, in Elkhart, Ind. He graduated from Elkhart High School in 1971 and Olivet Nazarene College in 1975. He most recently was employed by AT&T.
Surviving are his mother, Joan L. Magner of Mishawaka, Ind.; a daughter Katie D. (Kevin) Nicholson, and a son, Brian W. Thompson, both of Winter Haven, Fla.; a brother, Kenneth L. (Jane) Thompson of South Bend, Ind.; and a sister, Rita K. (Mark) Wegner of Sturgis.
Preceding him in death were a sister, Denise E. Thompson, and his father, Chester A. Thompson.
Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hartzler-Gutermuth-Inman Funeral Home in Elkhart, Ind., and one hour prior to services at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
