Larry George Reed, 63, of Burr Oak, Mich., passed away early Saturday morning, Jan. 8, 2011, at the home of his daughter in Goshen, Ind.
He was born July 30, 1947, a twin son of the late George Wilson and Winifred (Wilcox) Reed.
Larry had resided in Burr Oak for the past five years. Prior to moving to Burr Oak he had lived most of his life in the Centreville area.
On May 18, 1974, he married Melissa Marie Ryan in Three Rivers, Mich. She died July 17, 2005.
Larry owned and operated Reed Cores and had also been employed by the Pennsylvania Railroad.
He enjoyed bowling and playing pool and cards. Larry was happiest when he was working.
He is survived by two sons, Larry John Reed of Burr Oak and Larry George Reed of California; three daughters, Brenda Leigh (Brian) Hostetler of Goshen, Ind., Sheree Lynn Reed and Lora Sue Reed, both of California; 13 grandchildren, Anthony, Patrisha, Brandon, Breanna, Britney, Brisa, Michael, Morgan, Mark, Lauren, Lilly, Casey and Lily; one great-great-grandchild, Emily; three brothers, Doug Reed, Greg Reed and his twin brother, Steve Reed; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7: p.m. Tuesday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331. Funeral services celebrating the life of Larry Reed will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The Rev. Mike Roberts will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at the Lakeside Cemetery in Colon.
