LaVerne M. Norton passed away on Jan. 3, 2011 in Three Rivers. She was born May 28, 1926 in Chicago, Ill. She moved with her family to Three Rivers in 1946 where she met and later married Harold L. Norton Sr. They had five children together. LaVerne worked as a secretary in Chicago, was Newberg Township Treasurer for a number of years and also a clerk at Three Rivers Public Library. She was a member of Corey Church of the Nazarene where she also enjoyed playing the organ.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Harold; son, Kenneth; daughter, Sandra. She is survived by three sons, Harry, Randy and Todd along with their wives; one son-in-law; six grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be held at Eickhoff, Farrand and Halverson Funeral Home this Thursday from 5-8 p.m. The funeral services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home followed by a graveside service at Poe’s Cemetery. A light lunch will be served at Corey Church of the Nazarene. Memorials can be made in LaVerne’s name to Corey Church of the Nazarene.
