Sarah Yoder, 89

Sarah W. Yoder, age 89, of Centreville, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2011 at Parkview LaGrange Hospital.

She was born in Centreville on May 27, 1921, the daughter of William D. and Lydia Ann (Yoder) Hochstetler.

She was a lifetime resident of St. Joseph County and a member of the Old Order Amish Church. Sarah was a homemaker and her hobbies included gardening and quilting.

She was married to Alvin B. Yoder on Dec. 1, 1940. Alvin died on Sep. 7, 1994.

Sarah is survived by two sons, Phineas (Barbara) Yoder of Hillsboro, Wis., and Arden (Waneta) Yoder of Centreville; three daughters, Erma Yoder of Centreville, Esther (Dan) Schmucker of Franklin, Ky., and Leona Martin of Goshen, Ind.; 20 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert W. Yoder of Sturgis; and by two sisters, Lizzie Ann Lehman of Shipshewana, Ind., and Ella Mae Chupp of Goshen, Ind. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Marion Jay Yoder; a granddaughter, Gloria Joann Schmucker; five brothers; and one sister.

Visitation will be Friday and Saturday at the Arden R. Yoder residence, 28272 Marvin Rd., Centreville, Mich., 49032. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Sunday at the Lee Schmucker residence, 58745 M-66, Centreville, MI 49032 with the home ministry in charge. Assistance was provided by the Eickhoff Funeral Home of Mendon.
