William Keck, 66

William N. Keck, 66, of Savannah, Ga., was surrounded by his family at his home Friday Jan. 7, 2011, when he died following a short illness.

He was born in Indianapolis, Ind., son of William and Aglaia (Pappas) Keck.

William had resided on Wilmington Island with his family since 1985. His childhood was spent in Three Rivers and he was a graduate of Three Rivers High School with the class of 1963. William had also resided in San Diego, Calif., moving to Kalamazoo in 1975 and was employed as the print shop manager for Borgess Hospital until 1985.

He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corp serving from 1965-1971 earning the rank of Sergeant (E-5).

William established Keck’s printing in downtown Savannah in 1985. He retired in 2003 after he suffered a severe heart attack which resulted in a heart transplant in 2004.

Bill enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and helping out at the family business, Basil’s Pizza and Deli on Wilmington Island.

He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Diana Hunter Keck; son, Michael (Lisa) Miller of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; daughter, Amanda (Ryan) Keck Grady, grandson, William P. Keck, granddaughter, Emily Rose Grady, all of Wilmington Island; and sister, Theresa (Calvin) Hackman of White Pigeon.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. today, Monday, Jan. 10 at the St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 14 West Anderson St., Savannah, where a Trisagion service will begin at 7 p.m. today. The funeral service will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, also at St. Paul’s. Interment will follow the service at the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.

William was a strong advocate for the transplant community and would hope that everyone consider being an organ donor.

The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Keck’s memory consider the St. Paul’s Greek Orthodox Church, 14 West Anderson Street, Savanna, GA 31401.
