Charles R. Purcell, 57, of Sturgis, passed away Wednesday morning, Feb. 2, 2011, at the Elkhart Hospice House in Elkhart, Ind.
He was born July 30, 1953, in Sturgis, a son of the late Charles E. and Marilyn Jane (Bronstetter) Purcell.
Charles had resided most of his life in Sturgis and was a graduate of Sturgis High School with the class of 1971.
He was a past member of Loyal Order of Moose #574 and enjoyed going to classic car shows and museums and traveling. Charles was always ready for a road trip.
He is survived by one daughter, Jeanie (Kevin) Seifert of Elkhart; two sons, Travis (Crystal) Smith and Charles R. (Shannon) Purcell, both of Sturgis; seven grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Harvey Purcell, Pandora Lawson, Dakodah Smith, Adrien Seifert, Austin Seifert and Payton Seifert; and one uncle, Don Croy.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends from noon-12:45 p.m. Feb. 12 at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, where a memorial service celebrating the life of Charles R. Purcell will begin at 1 p.m. Feb. 12. Mr. Larry Wallman will officiate. Private burial of the ashes will take place at Matteson Township Cemetery in Bronson at a later date.
