Ethel O. Knauss, age 89, of Constantine, died Sunday Feb. 20, 2011, at the Three Rivers Health Hospice Suite.
She was born Sept. 21, 1921, in Martin, Ky., a daughter of John B. and Fannie M. (Porter-Frazier) Harris, and attended school there.
She had worked as a salesperson both down South, and at the Sears Department Store in Three Rivers.
On Dec. 10, 1955, Ethel married Stanley G. Knauss in LaGrange, Ind. They resided in Parkville, where she owned and operated the Parkville Grocery Store and Gas Station, and attended Parkville Community Church. She enjoyed upholstery and gardening in her spare time.
Ethel is survived by three children, Roger (Suann) Knauss of Sturgis, Douglas Knauss of Brooksville, Fla., and Lorraine Wood of Constantine; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Rev. Wayne Harris of Galion, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Stanley; a son, Dallas Gregory; two brothers, Earl Ray and Russell Harris; and two sisters, Jeannette Penn and Gladys Frazier.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with her brother, Rev. Wayne Harris, officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery.
Memorials will be directed to Three Rivers Health Hospice.
