Gladys Leone Bowdish, 90, of Burr Oak, passed away Monday morning, Feb. 7, 2011, at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.
She was born July 10, 1920, in Holland, a daughter of the late Thomas and Lillian (Parker) Good.
Gladys had resided in Burr Oak for the past 62 years. Her early life was lived in Fawn River Township.
In December 1937, she married Charles A. Bowdish in Kankakee, Ill. He died Oct. 18, 1998.
She retired from Doerr Products in Burr Oak following 23 years of employment. She had also worked at Transogram in Sturgis.
While working at Doerr Products, she was very active in the union and had served as union steward. Gladys enjoyed crocheting, flowers and gardening, sewing and working on the family farm.
Gladys was a devoted mother and was happiest when she was spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Phyllis D. Curtis of White Pigeon, Dwight (Becky) Bowdish of Plant City, Fla., Alice (Larry) Willms of Orland, Ind., Janet Holsinger of Howe, Ind., Porter (Diane) Bowdish of Howe and Cheryl (Roy) Johnson of Burr Oak; 25 grandchildren; and many great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Raymond Bowdish; a son-in-law, Paul Holsinger,; three infant grandsons; a brother, Theodore Good; and a sister, Doris Haroff.
The family will receive friends from 10-11 a.m. Thursday at Pretty Prairie United Methodist Church, County Road 750 N just west of County Road 475 E, Greenfield Township, Howe, Ind., where funeral services celebrating the life of Gladys Bowdish will begin at 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Glenn Jackson will officiate. A graveside committal will follow the service at Pretty Prairie Cemetery.
Hackman Family Funeral Homes — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
