Lois Hassenger, 76

Lois A. Hassenger, age 76, of Three Rivers, passed away Saturday, Feb. 12, 2011, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

She was born April 7, 1934, in Columbia City, Ind., a daughter of Ralph and Lura (Kneller) Smith. Lois attended Centreville and Three Rivers schools.

On Sept. 2, 1950, she married Stanley Hassenger at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Three Rivers. He preceded her in death on Nov. 24, 2007.

Lois was a homemaker and a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church. She enjoyed spending time with the “Yappers Campers” and had been a Girl Scout leader and a den mother for the Cub Scouts.

Surviving Lois are her daughter, Marie Hassenger of Centreville; son, Mark (Bonnie) Hassenger of Constantine; grandson, Craig Hassenger of Constantine; sisters, Joan Oxender of Solon, Ohio, Irma (Guy) Johnson of Constantine, Sara “Sally” (Dale) Stuby of Constantine, Susan (Dave) Outman of Constantine; brother, Benton (Suzi) Alexander of Anchorage, AK; brother and sister-in-law Avis and Allen Baldwin of Three Rivers and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

Relatives and friends will be received Tuesday 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Eley Funeral Home in Constantine. Religious services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 16 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Three Rivers with Pastor Karleen Kinker officiating. Interment will be in Constantine Cemetery.
