Glema D. Pierson, age 82, of Sturgis, passed away Monday afternoon, April 18, 2011, at Sturgis Hospital.
She was born Feb. 3, 1929, in Sturgis, a daughter of the late Delphus and Ruth (Whisler) Hamilton.
Glema’s early life was spent in Sturgis, following her marriage she moved to Mottville and moved to Constantine where she resided for many years returning to Sturgis in 1983. She had also lived for six years in Arizona.
On July 30, 1945, she married LD William Pierson in Centreville. He died Sept. 23, 2000.
She was a home maker enjoyed puzzle books, crocheting and was a member of Sturgis Missionary Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Sandra (Danny) Kline of Sturgis and Darlene (Charles) Bender of Kalamazoo; one son, Rick (fiancée Nancy) Pierson of Orland, Ind.; six grandchildren, Dawn Quick, Shelly Milliman, Anthony Bender, Bradley Bender, Niki Richards and Stacy Pierson; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and twin sister, Dema Palmer of White Pigeon.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and one son, Larry Pierson.
A private graveside service and burial will take place at Constantine Cemetery in Constantine. The Rev. Dale Gerig of the Sturgis Missionary Church will officiate.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, is entrusted with the arrangements.
