Jason Michael Garmire, age 33, of Sturgis, Mich., passed away unexpectedly late Friday evening April 15, 2011, at his home.
He was born Oct. 4, 1977, in Sturgis, Mich., a son of Les and Jean (Stevens) Garmire.
Jason was a life-long Sturgis resident and had been employed by Medtec Ambulance Corporation in Goshen, Ind.
He was a member of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Shipshewana, Ind., and enjoyed fishing, working on cars and talking about hunting.
Jason is survived by one son, Zachary Michael Garmire at home; mother, Jean Garmire of Sturgis; father, Les Garmire of LaGrange, Ind.; one sister, Debbie (Gary) Frizzle of Sturgis; two brothers, Rick (Veronica) Ball of Sturgis and Kevin (Brenda) Ball of Constantine; grandmothers, Mildred Stevens and Doris Garmire, both of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon-1:45 p.m. Thursday at the Hackman Family Funeral Homes – Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis, MI 49091, 269-651-2331 where funeral services celebrating the life of Jason Garmire will begin at 2 p.m. Thursday. Pastor Gary Cox of the Cornerstone Baptist Church in Shipshewana, Ind., will officiate. Cremation will follow the service. Burial of the ashes will take at the Union City Cemetery in Union City, Saturday, April 23 at 2 p.m.
