Jeane Hart, 87

Jeane Evelyn Hart, age 87, of Sturgis, passed away Monday, April 25, 2011, at Thurston Woods Village.

She was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Kalamazoo, a daughter to the late Harry E. and Catherine I. (Kuhns) Eberhard.

Jeane had been a resident of Sturgis most of her life and on Feb. 26, 1944, in Sturgis she married Neal I. Hart. He preceded her in death June 11, 1992.

She was employed by Wade Electric in Sturgis, Continental Can in Three Rivers, and most recently for the City of Sturgis where she retired in 1988.

She enjoyed crocheting, reading, and spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving are one daughter, Gail (Gary) Gushwa of Sturgis; two sons, Gary (Theresa) Hart of Birmingham, and Guy (Diana) Hart of McComb Township; six grandchildren, Kolby Snyder, Kasey Klopfenstein, Steven (Lynn) Hart, John (Jennifer) Hart, Michael (Kari) Hart, and Justin Hart; six great-grandchildren, Mariah Snyder, Aiden, Alex and Arrick Hart, Evan, and Ella Hart; one sister, Helen Boals of White Pigeon; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, Harry Eberhard; mother, Catherine Frain; husband, Neal; two brothers; and one sister.

The family will receive friends and relatives from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Friday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Home — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa St., Sturgis.

Services celebrating the life of Jeane E. Hart will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with Mr. Larry Wallman officiating. Cremation will follow, and graveside services and interment will take place at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial donations be directed to the American Diabetes Association or Hospice of Kalamazoo. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
