Virginia Evelyne (Horton) Sterling, beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, 94, of Three Rivers and formerly of Jackson, departed April 22, 2011 to be with her Lord, surrounded by her loving family at “The Birches” in Leonidas. She was born March 28, 1917 to Irene and Don L. Bellman. In June of 1934 she married Arthur Horton, deceased in 1970; in February of 1973 she married Alfred J. Sterling, deceased in 1995. She was employed at Stillmans in the dress department for 20 years, she volunteered as a Care Giver at numerous facilities for 17 years. Virginia is survived by three children, Robert (Dee) Horton of Sturgis, Irene (Dale) Southwick of Dunedin, Fla. and Joan (Virgil) Dial of Pineland, Texas; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three half-sisters, Bernadine (Sally) Inman, Marcella (Bid) Erskine and Bertha Engerman; one sister-in-law, Dortha Jablonski; many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents; both husbands; daughter, Donna Seamans; one half-sister, Beatrice Mears; four half-brothers, Jeremiah “Bud,” Justin “Sonny,” James Jr. “Dune” and William “Bill” Mears.
Funeral services will be held at the Patience-Montgomery Funeral Home, 406 First St., Jackson on Wednesday, April 27 at 1 p.m. with Rev. Michael Mason officiating. Burial Hillcrest Cemetery.
