Ernest “Ernie” Lincoln McClain, 81, of Three Rivers, passed away suddenly on Monday, May 2, 2011 at his home. He was born in Mendon on Dec. 24, 1929 the son of Rob and Martha (Rench) McClain.
Ernie has been a resident of Three Rivers since 1966. He was employed as a truck driver for CM&E Steel, also hauled peat moss for the Mendon Elevator, and later retired from Republic Roller formally called Dayco. Ernie enjoyed sports, including NASCAR, Tigers Baseball, Pistons Basketball, and Notre Dame Football.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Charles and Henry McClain; one sister, Ann Oldenburg; one daughter, Barbra Cohee; and one son, Ernest Lee McClain.
He leaves to cherish his memory his loving family, wife, Maxine (Brown) McClain of Three Rivers; one son, Larry McClain of Okeechobee, Fla.; one daughter, Kimberley (Tim) Pelfrey of Constantine; two step-daughters, Cambi (Robert) Villwock, of Three Rivers and Ardell (Al) Bontrager, of Sturgis; one step-son, Jeff (Angie) Shupert of Bradenton, Fla.; 20 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mary Spealman and Martha McClain; three brothers, Donald, Stanley, and Robert McClain, as well as several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from noon until time of services at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at Hohner Funeral Home with Pastor Ward Pierce officiating.
Interment will take place in Constantine Cemetery.
