Jean Sayer, 82

Jean F. Sayer, 82, of Three Rivers, passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Park Township on Feb. 19, 1929 the daughter of George R. and Fannie (Thompson) Rhodes.

Mrs. Sayer has been a lifelong resident of this area. On March 8, 1947 she was united in marriage to the late Russell B. Sayer, her husband of 53 years, at the Ninth St. Church in Three Rivers. Jean was also preceded in death by two sons, Russell Eugene and Clarence Ray Sayer, as well as five brothers and two sisters.

Jean was employed for eight years at Continental Can Co. and later operated her own day care for more than 25 years. She enjoyed baking wedding cakes and was an avid animal lover; however caring for children was her true calling. Jean never met a baby she couldn’t soothe.

She leaves to cherish her memory two children, Robert Lee (Viola) Sayer of Sturgis and Scott L. (Pam) Sayer of Three Rivers; three grandchildren, Robert Benjamin (Leann) Sayer and Aislynn and Kallista Sayer; two great-grandchildren, Meagan and Zoe Sayer; two sisters-in-law, Lillian Rhodes and Jackie Sayer, both of Three Rivers.

Cremation has taken place.

Graveside Memorial Services will be held 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 31 at Dailey Cemetery in Cassopolis, with Pastor Bob Anderson officiating. A visitation following the service will be held from 6-8 p.m. at A Place in Time in Three Rivers.

Memorials may be donated to Three Rivers Health Hospice and Home Care. Envelopes are available at the Hohner Funeral Home in care of Jean’s services.
