Ruth F. Neaman, age 87, of Burr Oak, passed away Sunday morning, May 15, 2011, at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis.
Ruth was born Jan. 11, 1924, in Sturgis, a daughter to the late John and Marie (Wascher) Tappero.
Ruth graduated from Sturgis High School with the Class of 1942, and had made her home at her present address since 1947.
On Jan. 11, 1947, she married Randall J. Neaman in Sturgis. He preceded her in death on March 4, 1999.
Ruth was a homemaker and early in life had worked at the Montgomery Wards Store in Sturgis, she also had worked at the Colon Community Schools in the kitchen for many years, retiring in 1985.
She was a member of the St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burr Oak and had been a member of the former South Colon Ladies Aid.
She is survived by two daughters, Audrey (Robert) Avery of Burr Oak and Ellen (Richard) Easterday of Bronson; five grandchildren, Karlene (Ben) Jones of Coldwater, Rachel Easterday of Bronson, Kurt (Natalie) Easterday of Chesapeake, Va., Denise Easterday of Bronson and Luke Easterday of Bronson; two great-granddaughters, Abigail and Taylor Jones; and a cousin, Donald M. Godden of Mission Viejo, Calif.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Schipper Funeral Home LTD. in Colon.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Ruth F. Neaman will be Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Burr Oak, with Rev. Kurt P. Kuhlmann officiating. A committal service and burial will follow at the South Colon Cemetery.
If desired the family suggest memorials be made in memory of Ruth to the Burr Oak Evangelical Lutheran Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or church the day of the service.
