Tom Roellchen, 76

Tom Allyn Roellchen, 76, of Mendon, passed away April 27, 2011, after a four-year battle with health problems.

Tom was born to Edward and Cleo Roellchen of Vininnes, Ind., on June 13, 1934. His parents preceded him in death, along with one brother, Phillip C. Roellchen.

He graduated Indiana University’s School of Business in 1958. After working for several companies, he ventured out on his own and started several successful businesses.

He enjoyed singing barbershop quartet music, boating, guns and airplanes.

Tom was also passionate about Civil War history, his country and his conservative political views. He was also an avid reader.

From his first marriage, he leaves behind his beloved children and grandchildren, Lisa Roellchen, T.J. Roellchen and Julia Warner and was preceded in death by Todd Roellchen. The grandchildren include Eli Teague, Elzey Roe Todd and Tatum.

Tom was married to Diane Gibbs Morrison at their home on Dean Lake. They spent their years together in many different locations on the water.

The loved ones he leaves behind include: Brad (Lisa) Gibbs, with grandson Travis (Laurie) and granddaughter chlorize; also Rod (Kris) Gibbs with grandsons, Alex and Austin; special cousin and best friend John (Dot) Roellgen from Mississippi will be present at services.

Tom was also preceded in death by lifelong best friend Bernie (Sussie) Moultan.

There will be a Catholic Mass at 11 a.m. June 2 at Immaculate Conception in Three Rivers. A luncheon will follow. Remains will be laid to rest at Mount Everest.

Memorials may be made to Saint Clare Catholic, Immaculate Conception or West Mendon United Methodist churches. Special thanks to Rev. Ward Pierce and the very Rev. Mark J. Vyverman for their support and also to a very special friend, Judy Walbeck.
