Willard E. “Bill” Garvey, Sr., 86, of Three Rivers and formerly of Elkhart, Ind., died at 12:52 p.m. Sunday, June 12, 2011, at Three Rivers Health. He was born Oct. 19, 1924 in Muskegon to Earl and Margaret (Hanks) Garvey.
Surviving are two sons, Craig H. (Linda) Garvey of Three Rivers and Willard “Bill” (Sue) Garvey, Jr. of Goshen, Ind.; two grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; eight step- great-grandchildren. Also surviving is a sister, Sheri Barnhill of Ludington; two brothers, Doug (Beverly) Garvey of Three Rivers and Marshall (Fran) Garvey of Scottsdale, Ariz. Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Eikenberry.
Bill was a US Army veteran serving proudly during W.W.II. He graduated from Glen Oaks Community College with an Associate Degree. Bill was retired but worked for his son over 10 years at Classic Transport in Elkhart. He enjoyed walks and talking with his many neighbors. Bill was an avid fan of NASCAR and Jeff Gordon was his favorite driver.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 18, at the Three Rivers Bible Church, 220 N. Erie Street, Three Rivers. Cremation has taken place and burial will be at a later date in Ft. Custer National Cemetery.
