Jean Takacs, age 70, of Mendon, died late Saturday, June 11, 2011, at Thurston Woods in Sturgis, following a brief illness. She was born March 14, 1941, in Chicago, a daughter of John and Ann (Ghisolf) Takacs.
Later that year, the family moved to the farm in Mendon Township.
After completing her education at Mendon Community Schools and Michigan State University, Jean was employed as a computer programmer by Ford Motor Company, The Haas Corporation, and Federal Mogul Corporation. Following her retirement from Federal Mogul, Jean returned to the family farm in Mendon Township.
Jean is survived by her cousins, Donald Ghisolf, James Ghisolf, Ronald Ghisolf and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ann Takacs; and a sister, Rose Takacs.
Friends and neighbors may call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon, where the Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jim Vinh Le, pastor of St. Edward Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow in Mendon Cemetery.
Memorials may be directed to the St. Edward Catholic Church preservation fund.
