Ronald Kronberg, age 71, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 5, 2011, surrounded by his beloved sisters at the St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Health Center in Pontiac, Mich.
He was born Feb. 27, 1940, in Petoskey, to the late Ernie and Aileen (Dangremond) Kronberg.
After completing vocational training in Plainwell, Mich., Ron lived fairly independently in Kalamazoo for nearly 40 years. He was so proud of his jobs at Burger King, Comstock Schools, Every Body’s Gym, Olive Garden, and Goodwill Industries. In 2003, Ron moved to Columbus, Ohio to be more fully integrated into a deaf community.
Despite Ron’s many handicaps he had an upbeat personality and made friends wherever he went. He was an inspiration to those of us who loved him and he will be greatly missed.
Surviving are siblings Barb (Dan) Evert of White Pigeon, Mich., Carol McKay of Macomb, Mich., and Linda (Steve) Dow of Okemos, Mich.; niece, Kristen (Brad) Kirchner; nephews, Jeff (Elyse) and Greg Evert, Joe (Jessica) and Matt McKay and Adam and Eric Dow.
He was preceded in death by his devoted parents and infant brother: Bruce.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, at the Hackman Family Funeral Home – Rosenberg Chapel, 807 E. Chicago Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Ronald Kronberg will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, at the First United Methodist Church with The Rev. Robert Keim, officiating.
Graveside services and interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Goodwill Industries or the charity of one’s choice.
