Ruth Blonde, 96

Ruth A. Blonde, 96, of Klinger Lake, White Pigeon, died, Saturday, June 18, 2011, at her home, following an extended illness. 

Ruth was born March 24, 1915, in Detroit, to Anthony and Irene (Affeldt) Kraft.

On Jan. 30, 1943, she married Howard J. Blonde in Detroit. He died Feb. 15, 2003. 

They came to the White Pigeon area in 1953, from Westland. 

Ruth was a homemaker and the co owner and operator of Con-De Manufacturing with her husband. 

Ruth was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church, the past president and member of Sturgis Garden Club, a member of bridge clubs, the altar society and Kiwana Queens. Ruth enjoyed playing Scrabble, gardening and was an avid reader. 

Surviving are daughters, Betty Cloud of Edwardsburg, Carolyn (Larry) Nusbaum of Sturgis, Karen Blonde of Constantine; sons, Bruce Blonde of Sturgis, Jamie Blonde of White Pigeon; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Simpson of Rockford, Ill.; brother, Kenneth (Bo) Kraft of Bethlehem, Pa.; several nieces and nephews.

 She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Roy Kraft; three sisters, Helen Brenner, Marion LaLonde, Elaine Norton. 

The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. Thursday at Farrand Funeral Home, White Pigeon, with a scripture service at 8 p.m. 

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Catholic Church, White Pigeon, with the Rev. Robert Moss officiating. 

Burial will be at a later date at Holy Sepulchre Catholic Cemetery in Southfield. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Sturgis Hospice or Sturgis Garden Club. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
