Shirley Rose, age 74, passed away Saturday, June 18, 2011, at Fairview Nursing Community in Centreville.
She was born Sept. 15, 1936, in Hillsdale, a daughter of the late Walter and Erma (Hairre) Sheely.
Shirley had been a resident of Sturgis since 2001, moving from Detroit, where she resided for more than 20 years.
While living in Detroit,s he worked at Tigers Stadium. In Sturgis, she had worked at the Salvation Army and sold Avon.
She enjoyed crocheting, playing bingo, word search puzzles, and making welcome baskets for the new residents at Maple Towers.
Surviving are a daughter, Mary Harrell of Douglas, Ga.; a son, Ricky Rose of Detroit; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two sisters; and three brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Timmy; and her husband, Roy Rose.
The family will receive friends and relatives from 2-4 p.m. Thursday at Hackman Family Funeral Home — Hackman Chapel, 114 S. Nottawa Street, Sturgis, where services celebrating her life will take place at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Cremation will follow the services. Memorial donations may be directed to the funeral home to help with expenses.
