Vickie Sue Monroe, 58, of Three Rivers, passed away on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Battle Creek on Sept. 10, 1952 the daughter of Dwight and Deloris (Stutesman) Monroe.
Vickie had been a long time resident of this area. She had been employed for more than 21 years at T.H. Plastics as a foreman, before she became ill. She also had been a long time member of the Bethany Chapel. Vickie was an avid bike rider. She rode the Michigander Bike tour three times. She enjoyed oil painting and music. She was a Civil War historical buff. Vickie was always present for her grandchildren and nieces’ school and sporting events. She was their biggest fan.
Vickie was preceded in death by her parents; her step-father, Leon Frye; one niece, Marissa Monroe; her grandmother, Uma Hartsox.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory two daughters, Katie Cole of Three Rivers and Danielle Freshour of Hornick, Iowa; two sons, Keith (Brandi) Monroe of Mendon and Anthony (Annie) Monroe of Three Rivers; four brothers, Bruce of Niles, Lance of Twin Lakes, Scott of Constantine and Randy of White Pigeon; one sister, Karen Comly of Hornick, Iowa; as well as six grandchildren, Tomecia Cole, C.J. Cole, Hunter Cole, Tyler Monroe, Alys Monroe and Jak Monroe; several nieces and nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, June 17 at the Hohner Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 18 at the Bethany Chapel, with Pastor Timothy Moore officiating.
