Kenneth E. Broker, age 71, of Sturgis, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011, at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.
Kenny was born Nov. 12, 1939 in Colon Township, a son of the late Frank and Emma (Thrams) Broker.
Kenny grew up in Colon and attended Colon schools. He later moved to Sturgis, where he lived all his adult life.
On Aug. 8, 1970, he married Lois (Wilson) Sturgis in Sturgis.
Kenny had worked for Sturgis Company-GF Business of Sturgis for 26 years and for Midwest Tool and Cutlery for 18 years in Sturgis.
Kenny enjoyed hunting, fishing, time spent with his family, and watching sports, especially University of Michigan and all the Detroit teams. He loved animals, especially his cat, Ginger.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Broker of Sturgis; a daughter, Julie Broker of Sturgis; two stepsons, Michael Sturgis and fiancee Diane Fish, both of Sturgis, and Scott (Joyce) Sturgis of Sturgis; a grandson, Matthew Sturgis of Sturgis; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; Ralph, Howard and Robert Broker; and a sister, Erma Diekman.
There will be no visitation. A graveside funeral service and burial will take place at 1 p.m. Thursday at Lakeside Cemetery in Colon, with the Rev. Dale Gerig officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made in memory of Kenny to Sturgis Missionary Church, 67080 M-66, Sturgis, MI 49091.
