Sandra Kay Dentler, age 60, of Mendon, died Sunday July 17, 2011 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo following a long illness. She was born in Vicksburg, MI on Jan 4, 1951 the daughter of Fred and Elizabeth (Dokey) Woods. Sandy attended Mendon Schools and later worked at Nagle’s Glad Farm, Buster’s Pizza, and in the cafeteria at Mendon High School. She enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, camping, gardening, and bird watching.
Sandra was married to David Dentler on May 4, 1990 in Kalamazoo. He survives along with 3 children, Hope (Dee) Haywood of Vicksburg ; John Dentler of White Pigeon, and Michael Dentler of Three Rivers, 5 grandchildren; her father, Fred Woods, Sr. of Three Rivers; 4 brothers, Fred Woods, Jr., Rick Woods, and Joe Woods all of Three Rivers and Bill (Shirley) Woods of Centreville; 2 sisters, Linda (Jay) Crabtree of Three Rivers and Deborah (Skeeter) Cerney of Leonidas; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty; and a sister, Pam Robinson.
Cremation has been conducted. A memorial service will be held on Thursday July 21, 2011 at 10 a.m. at the Eickhoff Funeral Home in Mendon with Rev. Ward Pierce, Pastor of the Mendon and West Mendon United Methodist Churches officiating. Memorials are suggested to either the American Lung Association, or the American Heart Association.
