Esther Mohney, 101

Esther Elizabeth Mohney, 101, of Three Rivers, passed away on Tuesday, Aug. 16, 2011 at the Heartland Health Care Center. She was born on April 6, 1910 in Adamsville, Cass County, the daughter of the late John and Katherine (Onkes) Neterer.

Mrs. Mohney has been a lifetime resident of this area. She was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Esther Circle. She loved to garden and was an exceptional cook. Her true love was spending time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Leonard, whom she married in 1930 and passed in 1998. She was also preceded by one daughter, Janet Malone, three brothers, and one sister.

She leaves to cherish her memory four daughters, Harriett (Harold) Smith, of Traverse City, Phyllis (Robert) Kerr and Betty Lou (Dale) Rice, both of Three Rivers, and Bonnie Arney of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sons, Lee (Jeannie) and Clayton Mohney, both of Three Rivers, and James (Kathy) Mohney of Jackson; 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and several step-great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20 at the Hohner Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Maria Rutland, of the First United Methodist Church officiating.

Interment of cremains will take place at Riverside Cemetery.
