Jack Raifsnider, 81, of White Pigeon, Mich., died at 4:50 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, 2011, at Borgess Medical Center, Kalamazoo.
He was born on Feb. 18, 1930, in White Pigeon, to Lester and Hazel (Snyder) Raifsnider.
On July 3, 1955, in LaGrangem, Ind., he married Mary Parks. She survives.
Survivors in addition to his wife are two nieces, Kathy (Phil) Winkelpleck of Sturgis, and Sheila (Ed) Vanek of Ishpeming, Mich.; a nephew, Rick (Shirley) Metzger of Constantine; his adopted family, Vernon (Elva) Weaver. He was preceded in death by both parents, and a sister, Beverly Dunlap.
He had served in the Army/Air Force, worked at Keene Machine in Middlebury, Ind., and retired from GTE after 35 years as an installer/repairman. He enjoyed watching the wildlife in his backyard.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, at Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, 1003 S. Main St., Middlebury, Ind.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Middlebury. Services will be conducted by Rev William Steinke. Burial will be in Keightley Cemetery, Shipshewana.
